Mother's Day Gift Ideas & Packaging Gifts Together

Mom: she packed our lunches for school, she fixed our boo-boos, and she could even do home repairs if we knocked something off the wall. So what do you get for the woman who is already so well-prepared for any situation? One tried-and-true strategy for Mother’s Day gifting: impress mom with our cleverness by assembling a fun package of goodies!

Creating a personalized gift pack for mom is also your chance to reveal  how well  you’ve been paying attention to her special interests.

  •  Maybe mom has a sweet tooth, but usually buys healthy treats for the household? Check out your local fancy grocer for some fruit-based treats. And a few artisanal chocolates always hit the spot.
  • Has mom been busy following the election news? Get her a gift certificate for a local coffee shop and tuck it into recent issues of a popular news magazine. And in case she's ready to escape into some entertainment, maybe add in a few films, such as The Candidate or Lincoln.

Whatever you select for the gift pack contents, remember that an essential element of this gift is the actual packaging: the first thing your mom will see, and it sets the tone for the entire gift! If your mom is a dog or cat lover, PushPushi makes several cute tote bags, which would be perfect to hold your particular assortment of goodies. From rainbow paw prints to elegant cats to pink Scottish terrier puppies, take a look and see if there is one that’s just right for your mom.

We’re offering a special 15% code for Mother’s Day gifts, which you can apply to individual tote bags, or use it for the entire purchase, and buy mom an assortment of PushPushi pet accessories such as a new collar, a color-coordinated pet carrier,or even our innovative dog raincoat. Start shopping now with discount code "MOM15OFF" !

Hopefully some of these suggestions will help with your own gift selection. Because even though Mom might be tricky to shop for, we can all agree that she deserves some recognition on her special day. Was there a year you discovered the best-ever mother’s day gift? Tell us about it in our comments section, and maybe it will help out someone else who is feeling stuck.

For our own moms and for our favorite fur-baby moms, PushPushi wishes you a Happy Mother’s Day!

How to Walk Your Dog in the Rain Like a Pro

If you live in an area that gets high amounts of rain such as Washington, Oregon, and the East Coast in the fall and winter seasons, you are very familiar with the somewhat uncomfortable experience of walking your dog in the rain. Dodging the muddy puddles, putting on those extra layers, and trying to gently coax your dog into the wet outdoors are all part of the rainy-walk ritual.

This Little Problem Keeps Your Dog from Being Happy
How many times have you seen a dog wearing a raincoat? How many times have you seen a dog happy to be wearing a raincoat? The reason is that there is one little problem that is keeping your dog from being happy when it comes to dog apparel; it's comfort! Your dog is uncomfortable wearing items that do not fit properly. When a raincoat or a hoodie is placed on their heads the fabric squishes down on their ears and flops down over their eyes. When this happens it makes dogs very uncomfortable as it impairs their vision and makes it difficult for them to hear. Combined with wet weather and a flimsy raincoat hood, water will inevitably stream down their faces and into their eyes. Not a very happy dog!

Get the Kind of Dog Apparel Your Dog Likes!
Dogs like to move around without feeling restrained. They take joy in feeling the wind on their faces (car rides!) and love to be outdoors. Dogs like to be comfortable! In order to keep your dog happy and comfortable in wet and rainy weather, it's important to get the kind of pet apparel your dog wants. The apparel your dog likes is the kind that will allow them to move freely and comfortably. In order to keep your dog happy during his or her rainy walks, we suggest purchasing a raincoat that will keep them happy and dry.

How to Walk Your Dog in the Rain Like a Pro
As mentioned before, dogs do not like having their hearing muffled by flimsy hoods, or to have their eyes covered by floppy material. Instead they like to be able to move freely. Also many dogs to not like to be cold and wet! Here at Push Pushi we have developed a dog raincoat that will keep your pup dry, warm, and comfortable. Our umbrella-like hood sits like a shell over the dogs head. The hood is structured so that it will not bother the dogs ears, or flop over the eyes! Our coat is fleece lined for warmth, and is adjustable by a strong study velcro that allows for the perfect fit. All of our products are made right here in the USA, in Northern California. Our Push Pushi dog raincoats are perfect as they encourage both you and your dog to be more active in the rainy weather. So what are you waiting for? Visit our website to Shop Now!

5 Innovative Products That You and Your Pet Will Love

We here at Push Pushi are no stranger to clever and innovative products. In fact, we've invited one of our own that we are quite proud of! We are always on the look out for new and exciting products and have complied 5 of our favorites below. We kick off our listen with something we know every dog owner will appreciate: a squeaky toy! Don't believe us? Check out our list below:

5 Innovative Products That You and Your Pet Will Love

The squeaky toy that you'll never have to hear
Who hasn't been thrilled to give their dog a new toy? Who hasn't been as equally thrilled when the toy finally lost it's "squeak"? The people at Hear Doggy have found an ingenious workaround: a squeak pitch so high, only your god can hear it. Little Fido gets to play to his hearts' content, and you can sleep soundly through the evening.

A water bottle that brings its own dispenser
This soft form water bottle comes with an attached dispenser, making it easy for thirsty pups to get a drink of water while on the go! It also comes with a clip that makes it easy to attach to belt loops or leashes, keeping it out of your hands. The Gulpy is 100% leak proof and has been made to fit standard bicycle water bottle cages.

Give your dog a bath without the hassle
Let's face it: sometimes bathing a dirty pup isn't all bubbles and giggles. Sometimes it's a wet dog running through the house and an equally wet owner chasing after them. A great solution to this scenario is to avoid the tub all together, and go with GroomMitt bathing wipes. They're perfect for large dogs, and can even be warmed up for a spa-like experience.

Don't Let Your Pet Get Wet
We're going to take a moment here to toot our own horn! We are so proud of our innovative and stylish raincoat. As many dog owners will attest to, dogs don't like to have their hearing and vision obscured! Our raincoat solves those issues while also keeping your pup dry: our unique umbrella like hood shields dogs from the rain and snow while leaving their eyes and ears un-bothered. The Push Pushi dog raincoat comes in a rainbow of color options, as well as patterns.

Declare your love with a (temporary) tattoo
This one's for you! Who doesn't love a good pun, or a playful temporary tattoo? The folks over at the Bark Shop have put together a fun collection of Bark Tats that are sure to put a smile on everyone's face!

And there you have it! 5 products that are guaranteed to make your life easier, more stylish, and all the more complete. Do you have a favorite product that you think should be included in our list? If so, share your favorites in the comments below, along with your thoughts!

5 Summer Safety Tips for Dog Owners

Summer is in full swing and already some towns are experiencing record high temperatures. Many call this season their favorite time of the year, and with great reason: The kids are off from school, the days are longer and warmer, and of course there's all those fun summer cocktails!

Summer also comes with it's precautions: it's the height of tick season, and there can be dangerous heatwaves that result in heat exhaustion. We here at Push Pushi specialize in keeping your dog dry and stylish, but we also have great advice on keeping both you and your dog safe and happy all year round. Below find our excellent tips that are guaranteed to provide you and your pup with a safe and healthy summer!

Schedule those afternoon walks a little later
We all know that our dogs deserve to be walked at least once a day. Regular walks can help reduce or even eliminate destructive behaviors, provide an excellent source of exercise, and deepens the bond that you have with your pet. Our animals love spending time with us, and walks are a wonderful way to keep the both of you active and healthy. In the summer months be sure to schedule your walks early in the morning or later in the evening. The ground can quickly become far too hot for your dogs paws, causing burns and pain. How to tell if the ground is too hot for Fido's paws? Touch the ground with your hand or bare foot: if it's too hot for you, it's too hot for them!

No freeloaders
Summer season is tick season. The peak months for tick activity falls between April - September, the exact months that everyone wants to be exploring the great outdoors! Ticks can carry a host of diseases from Lyme Disease to Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Stay a step ahead of these critters by staying on trails, avoiding high grasses, and always performing a tick check on both yourself and your dog after time spent outdoors.

Take your friend with you
Many dogs love a good ride around town! They love to get outside and spend their time with you. But what happens if you're running errands and you just need to pop inside of a store real quick? Should you leave your dog inside the car? Does rolling the window down make it okay? The short answer is no. Dogs should never be left unattended in a car during hot, or even warm weather. Temperatures can raise up to 40 degrees in under an hour on even a mild day. A cracked window doesn't prevent the temperatures from rising. If you can't take your furry friend with you, please leave them in the comfort of your home.

A little place in the shade
If you work away from home, make sure that your dog has some place in the shade: if they are kept mainly outdoors, perhaps consider letting them stay inside while you are away. Sometimes a shaded area isn't nearly enough when temperatures and humidity are high. If letting your dog remain indoors while you're away isn't an option, try looking into doggy daycare facilities that can watch them and keep them cool.

Keep afloat!
A majority of pups can swim and love the water. For the dogs who haven't been swimming before, start them off in the shallow end, and see how comfortable they are. Dogs should never be left unattended around large bodies of water! Instead, see if they instinctively begin to doggy paddle. If not, keep them in the shallow end, or pair them with a dog who can swim. They'll pick up the movements soon enough!

From all of us at Push Pushi, we wish you a safe and healthy summer! For more helpful tips and information, check out our links below.

Below see our photos from the event, as well as great gift ideas for the fur-mother in your life. There's still time to shop and have them ready to give Sunday morning.

Happy Earth Day from Push Pushi!

Push Pushi would like to wish you a very happy Earth Day! The very first proposal for an 'earth day' was made here in California. It came in response to a tragic oil spill off that happened off the coast of Santa Barbara. Senators and students, along with animal rights activists joined together to promote and encourage a healthier environment for all. Earth Day was created to spread the message about health of our planet and to also bring awareness to those who can't speak for themselves. The very first Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1970.

This year Push Pushi teamed up with the Rohnert Park Animal Shelter to promote several dogs and puppies who are in search of their forever-home. Every year the RPAS takes in an average of 1,200 animals. The shelter works tirelessly to find loving homes for animals that have been found as strays, abandoned, or surrendered by those who can no longer provide a home.

We at Push Pushi believe that every animal deserves a second chance at life and a happy home! We're happy to announce that as part of the shelter's adoption program, Push Pushi will donate a collar, leash, and bandana to be sent home with each adopted dog that participated with us in today's photo shoot.

Below meet the dogs who are eager to find a loving home, as well as help you celebrate Earth Day! For adoption inquires, or to schedule an appointment to visit the shelter please call 707-584-1582.

Pictured above is Daisy, a sweet 9 year old border/collie mix who is good with cats, and is very friendly. She loves to be outdoors, and to go for walks!

This is Raven. She is a pit bull mix, approximately 4 months old, and is vibrant and full of life. She is very friendly, and absolutely loves to play. She and her brother came to the shelter a little bit ago - she is looking for someone who will have lots of time to play!

Nugget is a Chihuahua rescue who was found in a Walmart parking lot. He has a personality that comes across as very calm and shy. He does well in quiet environments. As you can see from the photo above, he really enjoys flowers!

Feenix has known isolation most of his life. Continuously left alone by his previous owners, he has developed a playful imagination; a response developed by his mind to keep himself entertained. He is a Doberman mix, well mannered, and will need lots of active love and attention!

MacGyver is a little gentleman. He is well behaved with cats and other dogs, and it quiet and reserved. MacGyver loves to be around people and enjoys cuddling. While he is no longer available for adoption, we are honored to have been able to meet him!

SaraFina is a sweet and attentive Golden Retriever mix. She has plenty of love to give and loves to shake. When coming out for her photos, she introduced herself by offering her paw! Her happy and content personality is as warming as the sunshine.
